A truly wonderful eco-friendly product! Jam jars stores jam, but this Sun Jar collects and stores sun-shine so that you can use it at night. Totally, solar powered light! Originally designed by Tobias Wong, this masterpiece of a jar is ingenious. The idea is to leave the jar either outside, near the window or under some decent artificial light, to collect energy from the sun throughout the day via the solar cell. When it turns dark, the jar gives a warm ambient and relaxing glow.

It gives a few good hours of light on one charge. This should be ample time for those after BBQ conversations on the porch or garden

(yes, it’s water-proof too !), or simply use as a gentle bedside lamp until you doze off or place one in the toilet. You know how blinding toilet lights can be especially when you are still half asleep!

It’s a feel good factor for the ecologist in you and not to mention a money saving device so out with the candles and in with the jar! You can even actually store your essential items in it.

The weather might be getting a bit chillier, but it seems for most of us, the sun is still out, so catch it now. But don't worry, even when the sun isn't out where you are, if you place it under artifical light (ie a lamp), it will still work and glow in the dark! (cheating we know, but why not make use of it throughout the whole year?). But, the sun jar works best when recharged by sunlight!

Note:

There is an override switch inside the lid to turn off the light at night and conserve battery life.
For improved results, leave the Sun Jar switched off (switch up) whilst charging. Simply switch it to the on position (switch down) when you would like it to glow. This conserves battery life and will leave it to illuminate when you need it to.
If the weather has been particularly bad, as a last resort you can also charge the batteries in a normal battery charger!

The sun jar gives out a very nice warm glow. I leave it on my son's bedside table at night instead of leaving the bedroom light on low dim. He has got so used to it that he would bring the jar to me in the morning so that it can be charged up again. He was so fascinated by how the jar stores sun light. We both found it very educational !
